Overall (as far as I know) she doesn't seem to have particularly bad human/political point of views. Writing on Instagram, the star criticised 'female writers' who have attacked her for 'glamorising abuse'. It seems like the 1950s appear as a ‘happy place’ or kind of refuge, perhaps from her personal problems. She’s even quoted saying I wasn’t even born in the ’50s but I feel like I was there. This was for example the case of question for the culture doing a list of many women doing "sexy songs" putting mostly women of color: maybe she didn't think about it, but in general you have to reflect a bit to see if your message could convey something else. Lana Del Rey has defended herself against accusations that her lyrics are anti-feminist. Lana’s style is typically associated with dreams, melancholy and nostalgia for the past, namely the 1950s and 1960s. Allegedly produced by her then-boyfriend and music. I think most of her badly worded sentences come from this, sometimes she seems not to read to room because she never had to. Listen to this newly released raw version of Lana Del Reys song Mermaid Motel, including different lyrics. This lead to a certain disinterest about things like feminism for example, because (even if you as a woman still suffer from misogyny) if you have the money/resources to protect yourself, it's easier to grow up in your "castle". My take is that Lana, while troubled and I think very sensitive, grew up quite privileged.
It low key makes me laugh that Lana is famous for being "problematic" but she actually has done very few things and most of them were badly worded sentences and/or facts/sentences of ~ 10 years ago that she eventually changed her opinion about or never repeat (for example the famous headpiece in Ride, which many pop stars used to wear at parties in that period but I won't say names).
